Description

"Quick Compare" tab focuses on multiple buildings that are selected by the user. There is a line plot that displays the percentage of WAP users of recorded building maxes that were recorded in that building every hour on that day. The selected time is highlighted on the histogram with a vertical line and a slightly darker bar. Percentages are also represented by a bar graph above. The colors are unique for each building selected. The user can make a decision on which building to investigate next by observing the trends in this data.

Functionality

Interface Overview

  • When opening the website, the Map tab appears first. However, if user wants to go to "Quick Compare" tab directly, hamburger (red circle) can be used to navigate to "Quick Compare".
  • There is a short tutorial to teach users how to use "Quick Compare" tab, and users can hide the tutorial anytime by clicking "-" in the upper right corner.
  • A selection panel is used to let users customize their inputs selection so that they can see different plots according to their needs.

Input Selection

Users customize their inputs using the following 3 selections:

  1. Choose a date: Select a date that you want to see the information on.
  2. Choose a time: Select a time that you want to see the information at.
    • User can also click "NOW!" to update date and time to latest automatically
  3. Choose Buildings: Select specific buildings to see information of that building.
    • User may jump from "Find a Place to Study" using the "Compare" button, then the date, time, and building will be selected automatically.

After selecting all inputs, user need to click "Update Graphs" to update the map unless user clicks "NOW!" to update date and time to latest or jump here from "Find a Place to Study".

Graphs

  • Suppose the user jumps to "Quick Compare" from "Find a Place to Study", then inputs(date, time, building) are pre-selected from the "Find a Place to Study" tab. (Similarly, if you see the "Map" page in our wiki, then you will know that the example in the "Map" page is Rensselaer Union on 2020-11-17 10:00am)
  • Selected time is indicated with vertical line, and that is the time represented in the bar graph.
  • Filled bars indicate the percentage of max users seen this semester at each respective building.
  • Suppose the user wants to see the latest data, then user can click "NOW!" button.
