Find a Place to Study
Description
"Find a Place to Study" tab focus on one building that is selected by the user. There is a histogram which displays the number of WAP users that were recorded in that building every hour on that day. The selected time is highlighted on the histogram with a vertical line and a slightly darker bar. To scale the histogram, there is also a horizontal line indicating maximum recorded capacity. Below the histogram, the recommendation is provided. The evaluation compares WAP users in the selected building to those of the rest of campus at that time. Based on the normalized data, the algorithm determines whether or not this is a good place to study, or if the information is insufficient.

Histogram
-
Suppose the user jumps to "Find a Place to Study" from "Map", then inputs(date, time, building) are pre-selected as map's. (If you see the "Map" page in our wiki, then you will know that the example in the "Map" page is Rensselaer Union on 2020-11-17 10:00am)
-
Selected time is indicated with vertical line and darker box (blue rectangle).
-
Max number of users is indicated with horizontal dash line (yellow rectangle).
-
We can see that there are not too much users at 10:00 am, but 9:00 am or before 9:00 am may be better choices. Find histogram_jump
-
Suppose the user wants to see the latest data, then user can click "NOW!" button (blue rectangle).
-
Unfilled bars indicate predicted users (yellow rectangle). Predictions are calculated using summary data from the last three weeks.
-
We can see that it is not a good choice to go to Rensselaer Union after 1:00pm. Find histogram_predict
Recommendation
-
Suppose the user jumps to "Find a Place to Study" from "Map". (Example in the "Map" page is Rensselaer Union on 2020-11-17 10:00am)
-
There are some lines to provide additional information and context (red rectangle). These information are used to evaluate whether or not this is a good place to study
-
A sentence to show the recommendation result (blue line).

-
Similar to above, we can see that the Rensselaer Union may or may not be good place to go on 2020-11-23 at 1:00pm, so user maybe consider somewhere else first.
