Description
The Campus WiFi Overview tab provides a geographic overview of the WiFi access on campus via WAP devices. Users can customize their searches using the 5 selections. Based on the user's selection, the main panel will display a leaflet bubble map.
Functionality
Input Selection
Users customize their searches using the following 5 selections:
- View the WiFi access via user count or device count
- Select a specific date within the last 7 days
- Refine their searches by only selecting from specific building types
- Select a time range
- View the bubbles by their actual population size or all the same size
Leaflet Bubble Map Detailed Description
Size: When "actual size" is selected by the user, the diameter of each bubble will represent the maximum number of users at the building during the input time range. When "same size" is selected, the diameter of every bubble will be 30.
Color: The color of each bubble reflects whether there is a high or low maximum number of users during the input time range. The legend describes the color breakdown in more detail.
Switching to other tabs: If the user would like to see more detail on a certain building, the user can click on the building's bubble. A pop up will appear with the building name, exact maximum number of users, and exact average number of users for the time period. There will also be a link to see more detail. When clicked on, the app will switch to the Campus WiFi Dashboard tab with the input building already selected. The user may continue to change the inputs in the dashboard tab, go back to the map, click to view another detailed visualization, or click to view a daily overview. These options may be selected towards the top of the page on all other tabs in the app.
This graphic has the ability to change based on selected options. Below are the five user selection inputs:
- User versus device counts (red circle)
- Date (blue square)
- Building type(s) (yellow trapezoid)
- Time range (green pentagon)
- Size of the bubbles (orange triangle)
Below is a closer look at the leaflet bubble map visualization. The user can zoom in and out with the plus and minus signs in the top left corner and may also click on any bubble to view more detailed information on the building and switch to the Campus WiFi Dashboard tab.
